Biography
Sylvia Henze works in the fields of sculpture, installation, photography and video.
She received scholarships from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture for a total of 3 years at the Academy "International Ceramic Studio Kecskemèt" and went to the USA, Canada and Greece, among other places, for work and study stays.
Her works, which are classified as conceptual art, often deal with socially critical or political themes and have been shown in exhibitions in Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Budapest, The Hague, Thessaloniki, Athens, Nicosia and elsewhere.
She repeatedly initiates art projects abroad, such as her work on the division of Cyprus, for whose research and realisation she went to Cyprus for about 3 years.
Since 1997 she has realised various art-in-architecture projects in Hamburg and Budapest.
Sylvia Henze lives and works in Hamburg, where she is also active in cultural politics. She is chairperson of the association "Ateliers für die Kunst" (Studios for Art) and spokesperson for the "Arbeitsgruppe bildende Kunst".
